COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina's House Republicans ushered the "Voter ID" legislation through the House today on a party-line vote. “Protecting the integrity of the election system of South Carolina is the goal of this bill,” said Rep. JOBS & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Eric believes that the key to a better economy is cutting taxes and keeping spending in check. In so doing we can slow the rate of government growth in a state that currently spends 30% more than the average state on the cost of government. More importantly, Eric wants to create jobs and economic activity that’s ultimately going to raise income levels and increase our quality of life. Eric was an economic development leader in Greenville County, and he continues working to make the system work so that businesses large and small can have the opportunity to grow and prosper. Eric took that commitment to better economic development to Columbia and works to keep government off the backs of workers and business.
TAXES & SPENDING
With no controls on spending or on the total tax burden, our state is weighed down with ever higher taxes and fees. We cannot afford that in difficult economic times. Eric remains committed to overhauling our tax system. As a member of the Greenville County Council, Eric worked closely with his colleagues to hold the line on taxes. Eric took that commitment to lower taxes and smaller government to Columbia and wants to continue fighting for our families.
Our state is blessed with fine teachers, but more must be done to give them the tools they need. Spending on education consumes more than 50% of the state’s budget, but only 44 cents of each education dollar gets in to the classroom. Eric is working to make sure the proper share of that budget gets to the classroom. For too long, the educrats in Columbia have dominated decisions about children’s education and it is time to put our children first.
CRIME & LAW ENFORCEMENT
Eric understands that a civilization cannot survive unless crimes are punished fairly and swiftly. Law enforcement must be given the necessary tools to help them stop crimes and catch criminals. Just as importantly, our judicial system must be equipped to punish wrongdoers and protect our citizens.
Even though Greenville County is becoming increasingly urbanized, Eric understands that agriculture remains South Carolina’s largest industry and will work to protect our farming heritage.
SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Eric is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and believes that a well armed citizenry is a crucial component of maintaining law and order. As a member of the House he fights for the rights of gun owners, collectors, and hunters.
As a father of four, Eric believes children are a gift from God. Eric has long supported the rights of the unborn child, realizing of course, that the life of the mother must be considered when her life is in danger.Continue Reading...Leave a Comment
